My Doctor is Leaving Me :(

First things first, everything went well at the OB appointment today. Baby is fine. Mama is fine. Except... I found out that my beloved Dr. Rina is moving to NC in August, months before my little one is due. Man!

I really like Dr. R, so I am sad that she won't be my doctor anymore. On the other hand, however, this may be for the best when it actually comes time to have the baby. She works in a practice with six or seven other doctors, they take turns being on call to deliver babies, so the odds were that some other doctor would actually deliver Flutterbug. This also meant that all the doctors in the practice would have to agree to my birth plan, which isn't going to be conventional. I had some concerns and reservations about these issues, but I liked my doctor too much to consider finding another doctor. Now I am forced to choose a new doctor, and that means I can be really selective and find one who has a reputation of being cooperative/supportive of natural childbirth. Also, I'd love the idea of my doctor delivering my baby, but short of that, I'd like to know that all the doctors in the practice will be supportive of my birth plan.

So wish me luck finding a new doctor, and if you have any suggestions, please let me know!

Dr. Kenneth Byrd - he's awesome! I found him when I left my old practice due to outright neglect from the half dozen or so doctors in that office. (They sent me home after multiple complaints about pain with Tylenol and a heating pad. Turns out I had a SEVERE urinary tract infection and had to be hospitalized as a result!)
Anyway Dr. Byrd took me in about 30 weeks into my pregnancy and gave me the undivided attention I required. He came to the hospital every time I had to go (about 2 or 3 times) and delivered baby Miles early on a Saturday morning. He's the only one at his practice so you are guaranteed to always be under his care plus he listens to your concerns and answers all your questions. I'd recommend him to anyone! Let me know if you want his number and I'll hook you up.

I commend you for wanting a natural childbirth. I think it really is imperative to find a doctor that is COMPLETELY fine with that decision. Most doctors laugh or they'll say "That's fine, but you'll probably not want it that way when the time actually comes...blah blah blah." Good luck honey...I know you can do it!

How frustrating, Cat. :( Like you said in your post that this will allow you to be more selective and discriminate about your new doctor. So take it for good news! I wish I were in Memphis to throw you some advice. I'm sure you'll find the right doctor for you!

Thanks for the suggestions and supportive comments - and keep them coming!

I really appreciate it. I'll keep y'all posted! I don't have to rush to make up my mind though, so I'm going to check out all the suggestions I receive.
